The “Manetamer”

The “Manetamer”
(Ponytail Holder for men but loved by everyone)

So here I am thinking what to write about this week; I thought I should write about something and someone dear to my heart. The “Manetamer” and its inventor; My brother, Marc Keesy. Best way to describe it is to see it by going to”Google” or “Bing” Search “Manetamer ponytail holder for men but loved by everyone” This will bring you to his facebook page. It’s very cool and nothing on the market is like it. I see athletes, stars, singer, business men all wearing rubber bands and women’s hair holders, this would be so great for anyone that wants to hold on to the hair they have because it wraps around the hair, not pulls it out! As Marc says: “using anything else is like wearing your sister dress” He has several commercial on His Facebook, I even have a spot sporting the “Little Willies” on the ends my braids. He’s already been featured on the BBC2′s “Dragon Den”. Like the “Shark Tank” here in America. Well give it a look, whether you’re looking for an investment opportunity, a job or just want these awesome ponytail holders for men for yourself!
Cheers!
Simone
BTW; all my friends here at Dick Hannah Honda give it two thumbs up! :)

Planting Trees

Did you know that for every vehicle purchased from the Hannah family of dealerships, a tree is planted? It’s true!
I know something about planting trees; many, many years ago I was a tree planter. I did a lot of reforestation in Texas, Mississippi, Missouri, and Northern Wisconsin; Loblolly Pine, a hybrid, was the tree of choice. I won’t kid you, I planted a lot of toilet paper too I’m sure. Our “tribe” of planters consisted of a variety of people. There was Misty and Malaciah with their young children Andre, Dori and Rainbow Sky. There was Susan and Fritz, Frank and Jim, Harley, Francisco, Concha, Melissa and Linda “Melinda” Peter, Carol, Jeff, Tom and the Laurent Boys to name a few. We all had different back rounds and different reasons for living on the sight in Teepees, tents, converted school buses, homemade campers and right under the stars for weeks at a time. As for my friend and their children it was about living off the grid and teaching the kids about Mother Earth while providing them with love and lifelong skills. Others it was a way to make good money doing hard work for half a year and living somewhere warm on a beach for the other half. I was into green before green was green and didn’t even know it. I did it because it was an adventure and I really didn’t know any better. We used Hodads (Ax handle planting devise) that you’d plunge into the grownd with one had while pulling a tree out of your tree pack with the other. You’d pull back the earth, lay the yearling in the grown while packing the dirt around it with the back side of the blade, all while gently pulling the tree up to keep the roots straight before stomping the ground near it with your foot to seal the deal. If you had some skill you could do this in seconds, seamlessly. I grew to do it that way but not until after hundreds of trees because I wanted every one of my trees to survive. “Deep, straight and tight… R.A.G.E plants it RIGHT!” (Riley Agricultural Enterprises.) This was Dave and Andy, Riley’s company “The Riley Bothers, Outstanding in their field” You have to use your imagination a bit here. See, we planted trees in a field and they (the Riley’s) were usually out (somewhere,) standing in them. :)
Anyway; No J, L or U roots for me. If any of your trees were planted with their roots bent, the likely hood of them making it very long was slim to none. So it makes me feel good knowing every tree that the Hannah’s have planted is being done by professional tree planters.
Who knows, maybe it’s one of my old tree plantin’ buddies. I’d like to think it is.

Tis it the Season?

Tis the season for remembering loved ones, family and friends. But when I think about it, isn’t every season that season? Not that I’m telling anyone anything they don’t already know, but sometimes it’s nice to remind ourselves that every year, month, week and day we are blessed. The simple relief that a Mother or family member will be here for another Christmas or Thanksgiving puts life in perspective and makes it all the more special and joyful.

Feeling so lucky to have that special someone in your life that knows you truly and still adores you completely.

Feeling so grateful to be able to help provide for your family, even if it’s by emotional support and not just financial.

Remembering that each one of us were made completely different, are uniquely special and have something no one else has, that it is appreciated and needed by someone else how is uniquely special and different.

So this “Season” I send out my best wishes and hopes to all; to look at all the blessing that surround us daily. To remember to tell those we love that we love them, and are thankful for them.

Each one of us does makes a difference; only catch is, we have to choose what kind of difference that will be.

Blessings,

Simone

Being a woman in the auto industry…

I didn’t start off in life thinking “man, I want to work in the car business” No; actually the road to my career in the auto industry started when I was a new transparent to the pacific northwest 8 years ago. Having been in the health care industry for 20 plus years I got a job at a chiropractor’s office thinking it was something different then the home health, hospice and physical therapy I was use to doing but still be working with people. It was fine but I was basically a receptionist and didn’t feel fulfilled. One day the gal that did the books said “Simone you are wasting yourself here; they are looking for a customer relations manager at Dick Hannah Honda and you would be perfect.” I thought to myself, a car dealership? Boy, I’ve purchased vehicles in the past and did not have anything good to say about my experience and how could that possibly be something I would enjoy or feel good about, but she convinced me that the Hannah’s were wonderful people and I should give it a shot. So I gathered up some courage and went in to meet with the manager; he asked what my experience in the car business was? I said “Well, I owned a few but I’ve been taking care of people with amputations, strokes, and so on, I think I could handle buyer’s remorse.” Not even knowing I wanted the job for sure, I seemed to have convinced him I was the women for it. Now 8 years later, I can say from my heart; if it weren’t for the Hannah’s, I more than likely would not be in the business. I can also say it has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I still get to work with people and help them but in a different way obviously; and the Hannah’s truly ARE wonderful people. Funny, when I hear people talk about car folk with negativity I have to smile. I remember those feelings years back and can say to them with conviction; you can feel safe with us. We haven’t forgotten it’s our customers that have kept us in business since 1949. We appreciate the trust they put in us. We will be here to take care of them long after they drive away.

I have many friend/customers that have been with me since the beginning. I love seeing their smiling faces as they make a special trip over to see me and catch up on what’s been going on in each other’s lives. Lots of funny and exciting stuff and yes, sometimes the loss of friends and family. I can say to any one woman out there that if you love working with people and enjoy a challenge yet rewarding career; this is the business for you. Thank you for taking the time to read a bit about my life in the auto business. I hope it helps you make a decision on your career or where you may buy or maintain your present or next vehicle.

Honda Party Time!

Last night was our Customer Appreciation Event that we throw monthly for our valued customers! Over a hundred guests come, many of our customers return time after time because it’s a great way to stay connected and make new friends.  Hate to brag, but I have done these Customer events longer than anyone else in the Portland/Vancouver area and it’s something I am very proud of!
After everyone was settled our cast of characters did a brief introduction of our parts and service departments and their crews, a rep from our collision center spoke, and then some of our sales staff and yours truly answered everyone’s questions. We played dashboard lights trivia to get things warmed up and after that we began our raffles (kids get our special raffles – the secret is they all win, but shhhhh it’s a surprise) and the prizes are AWESOME!  After that we handed out gift bags to one and all so everyone wins.

The cherry on the top however is setting off one or two AIRBAGS which is a real experience! Have you ever seen one blow up?  It is very dramatic.

Last night Mr. Hannah came to shake hands and thank people for being a part of the Hannah Honda family. It is a personal honor to have him here – his kindness, generosity, commitment to the community and the environment is very apparent to all that meet him.  I should mention he has a great, yet subtle, sense of humor.

I have to say my favorite part is just how comfortable everyone is together and what a warm feeling it leaves me at the end of the evening when I  think back on all the laughter, handshakes, smiles and yes, even hugs.

It was a great night and I can say in all sincerity that I love what I do, and the folks I do it with.  Hope to see you here at our next event, and thanks for “clicking”!
