Our Service Manager here at Dick Hannah Honda, John, took the opportunity to go the Portland Monster Jam and was kind enough to share his experience with us!

I was showing my Monster Jam photos to some of my coworkers at Dick Hannah Honda and they all thought they were really cool. A couple of people suggested I post them to the LiveLoveAndDrive site for others to see too. After all it’s not every day you see 20,000 pounds and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of monster truck flip onto it’s side, up close and personal! This show had some privately owned trucks like Ironman (a really nice custom build, see photo) and Tropical Thunder as well as a couple of the REALLY big, nationally known teams like Grave Digger, Donkey Kong and Blue Thunder. I thought this was a cool event to take the kids to see. Be sure to take your ear plugs, thankfully we had ours. Those things are really loud! I could not believe my eyes when I looked to my left and saw a little boy, maybe 3 years old, completely out of it, sound asleep. He did have a nice set of ear muffs. They must have worked great to make a nice quiet nap spot for him. Poor guy! His Dad did wake him up in time to see the big show. There is a lot of excitement, surprising speed for such a small track, HUGE AIR and the people watching is pretty interesting too. Hopefully the next venue will be a little bigger. That way they could get even more speed up and even bigger jumps. The Portland Rose Quarter was still cool even though it seemed a bit small for such huge trucks to race in. Anyway, the next time the Monster Jam comes around, go check it out if you have a chance. It’s worth the trip!
