Tis The Season….

…. For Yummy Fruit Desserts!!

Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups plus 1 tablespoon sugar
1 stick (8 ounces) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1/2 cup whole milk
2 cups blueberries
8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
1/2 cup prepared lemon curd

Directions:
1.Preheat the oven to 375°. Line the bottom of a 10-by-15-inch jelly-roll pan with parchment paper and grease the sides. Using an electric mixer, beat 1 cup sugar and the butter on medium speed until fluffy, about 5 minutes. Beat in the vanilla, then the eggs 1 at a time. Add the flour and milk alternately in 3 additions. Fold in 1 cup blueberries. Transfer to the prepared pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 15 minutes.

2.Meanwhile, in a bowl, combine the cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar. Whisk in the lemon curd.

3.Sprinkle the cake with the remaining 1 tablespoon sugar. Place parchment paper and a cooling rack on the cake and invert the layer; let cool and transfer to a work surface. Cut crosswise into thirds. Place one-third onto a platter and top with one-third of the cream cheese mixture. Repeat with the remaining cake and cream cheese. Top with the remaining 1 cup blueberries.

Save Cash at The Pump!

Dick Hannah Honda wants to save you time and money, just 3 Clicks of your gas cap at the pump can do it!!

This is true for all models from 1996 to current models. If the cap is loose it is unable to pull a vacuum to capture the fuel vapors, thus sending a message to the vehicles computer popping on that “Check Engine Light” that we all hate to see. This is part of the emissions system keeping our cars green :) Most people see this light and take it immediately into the shop, which I would do, for 2 reasons, the thought of not knowing what’s wrong with your vehicle and two the light is extremely annoying. This can be a costly trip to have the diagnostic test ran to see what message it is sending and why.

We want to actually burn the costly gas these days not let it escape into the air right?? So make sure you click 3 times to insure a tight seal, keep our earth green and keep the green stuff in your pocket!

What To Cook For Dinner

This was the statement I was muttering to myself every night around 4pm. Seems as though I was constantly cycling through recipes, my mom’s old recipes and recipe clippings from magazines. I was in a cooking rut!. I got the tip to try a website RelishRelish!. Al I can say is WOW! My life at home instantly became easier. This wonderful recipe club gives me all new recipes once a week. All you do is click on the ones that look appealing and then create a custom menu for the week. Not only do you get a main dish and side dish , they also put a grocery list together for you, it really can’t be much easier. Since I have started this I have became a much better cook, stepping outside my box a bit to try new spices or new types of meat, or get this, my husband will actually eat a meatless dinner, that’s how good these recipes are. The cool thing about Relish Relish is they also will give you meal plans for holidays down to the desserts and drinks also they do freeze and eat latter, way handy for the summer.. come back from a trip and bake. Nice. I just can’t say enough good things about this I have been doing this for a year, now everyone in my family has enjoyed the meals including our picky teenager.. and my husband thinks he married Betty Crocker, that works for me :) So check out this website if you enjoy cooking and providing your family with nice full healthy meals you will absolutely be hooked!

Awesome Vancouver Restaurant!

Last night my husband, myself and some friends finally tried the newer restaurant in Vancouver, WA called Lapellah. What a nice evening out it came to be, the atmosphere was awesome, low key but very hip. We knew we were in “our kind of place” from the first moment of walking in the door, your blasted with the smell of the wood fire grill, instantly making you hungry. The menu is not your ordinary menu, we hit the time right for Happy Hour and we all ordered something different from, Calamari, corn fried oysters, wild Boar ribs, to mac and Cheese all the food was wonderful and made us step outside our box a little… never thought I would eat wild boar. We will be returning to try out their brunch…Yum!
The service was great and very accommodating. We ended up staying for a couple hours we were so comfortable and relaxed. One of the best things I liked about this place was that they buy from all local growers. Nothing like supporting your local community with style!
Go check it out you will not be disappointed.

Great Wolf Lodge

Wanting to escape the rain and feel like you’re having some summer fun with your kids! 3 words, Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, WA!! What a wonderful family oriented, super fun place. I took my family there right before Christmas, My husband and I rode all the slides with the kids but of course we wore out way before them, they went until the pool closed. After that, the fun doesn’t end then they have so many activities for kids of all ages..teen dances, arcades, treasure hunts, story time and on and on. As my husband and I sat by the fireplace in the grand lobby the kids ran all over having a blast until almost midnight! Thank goodness for the Starbucks in the lobby. Everything you need is right in the lodge, 2 different restaurants, shopping, workout area and lots of places to grab a book and relax or watch the pool fun through the gigantic window..oh did I mention Starbucks :) …. The pool area is full of activities for small children to us big children including an indoor/outdoor hot tub!. The temperature is wonderful inside the pool in fact wear shorts if you plan to just watch the kids it is warm. We had so much fun and forgot about the grey rainy days outside the doors. Highly Recommended!
